We needed a proof of concept for the SNN publishers think tank project, and WordPress CMS was the natural choice. Two things were important for this choice, first it needed to be mobile ready, and second it needed to be simple to use for small to mid-sized publisher teams.
A custom WordPress template was created using the Twitter Bootstrap Responsive Design framework, which makes the application available for all devices including mobile phones, tablets as well as laptops, desktops, and projection environments.
An added layer of security was necessary as WordPress CMS sites are vulnerable to attack. For this application I chose WordPlate, a tool kit that helps WordPress CMS applications to withstand the constant hack attempts that naturally occur for applications that use WordPress.
This proof of concept was quite successful for the SNN project, and we were confident this would be an easy to use CMS that also fit the requirements for mobile ready, as well as custom color schemes without the need for additional design work.
